It’s about time someone made a good sized screen that makes sense for use in cars. I have a much smaller vehicle, size of the Toyota Prius, and this Streetfinder 7200 GPS is perfect for the car. There are many useful functions on the touch screen or you can use the remote. The screen is great, beautiful and brilliant, brilliant, if you want, if you can not fix it. I particularly like to keep your machine on “map” function so I can see what roads are coming, particularly at night when nobody in my neighborhood. The name of the next street is that there is great courage, but if you press the “talk” on the remote, which will announce the street ahead. This thing is great and I recommend it. The supply of cigarettes and support (One Piece) makes it a breeze to remove the unit for safety. A simple proposition and its outside support. Garmin has really put much thought into this. There are several ways this thing works, but I want to write a book here. The only thing I can advise is that if you do not plan to mount directly on top of the dashboard, the purchase of the “GPS Garmin GA 25MCX low profile antenna that snaps onto the back. Give the results of large reception, instead of “Searching for satellites” get “race ready” shortly. The wire which is attached to it, is not too large and can easily fit in small places to hide easily. I have not had mounted my car for the great hospitality, as a matter of fact, you just connect to the rear of the aircraft made a big difference. For a truly mobile use Garmin’m sure will come with a suction cup for the foreseeable future. Simply order, you will not be disappointed! This is my opinion.

  2. Just purchased, used only for a few trips, but I want to give my first impressions are very positive.

First, the ads say that it was designed for large size vehicles. Disagree. Printing from online descriptions is that the screen size is huge, for example, the same desktop PC. Not true, is a screen of 7 inches in diameter, it is still relatively low, the same size as the current GPS built screens of expensive cars. Compared to the model 2730, the 7200 is the perfect size touch screen input, while on the go. For more money, we recommend the 7200 with a larger screen on the 2730, which has the same characteristics. Thus, the model size of the touch screen 7200 is ideal for displaying and entering addresses on any size vehicle.

I was very impressed connectivty heavy during the season and to recommend the “option for external antenna (it sticks to the windshield with suction cups to the inside) .

The voice commands are excellent, with notice of upcoming turns and then the next round planned. < , br />
The screen is light and automatically adjusts to light.

It is not necessary to change something in the settings, they were great. Just plug and go. Displays user-friendly. ” br />
Easily update the latest software version, as shown on the Garmin Web site from the PC unit. No need to insert the upgrade chip. ” br />
The on / off. Do press. Simply by pressing the light to do nothing.

I was disappointed the software included in the package does not include the basic software of NT Navagation, and had to buy separately. The PC software allows you to pre-plan your route on your PC and download this to your 7200 in order to avoid having to load the addresses on the go. I tried this and it works well.

If you’re in a traffic jam, press the “Detour” and made jam to your destination. Be prepared however to go through secondary roads and areas that you may not know.

I did not check the specifics of SAT. nav. traffic, audio, video or books again.

Update: I used this now on a dozen trips and navigation is very reliable. My wife is a realtor and she loves him.

I researched for months and I knew exactly what I wanted in a GPS before I bought the Garmin StreetPilot 7200. It has all the characteristics I was looking for a big screen, the traffic in real time, distance, etc. I’m not going to dwell on all the great features. Each exam will tell them, and they are fine if they enter an address or visit a restaurant or gas station is what you use.

What What you see in magazines, and that the producers ad does not tell you is that this unit does not display street names on the map. If you plan to address, and we want to guide the user in a specific place, it shows the next street, you go through, and each time he told you to do and when. And he does it very well, mostly. I did it for me on a winding path that never ends if you continue to follow the instructions, but this is rare. A more common problem is that some roads do not know when to take the entrance ramp, and thinks he is still on the service road. At some point before each new entry starts telling me onto the ramp to the next entry, despite the fact that they are already on the highway. And as I walked past the entrance and you think I lost the slip again, it says “recalculating” road in what appears to be a tone of reproach. Very annoying. Also, unless you’re in an Interstate highway, I do not say the name of your output. If I’m on Northwest Freeway a mile from my exit 34th Street, said he was “Take the exit for Highway Northwest in a mile, etc.

Looking back at him is the function that I seek. But then I think it would have to believe that the names of streets on the map. After all, I wonder if Rand McNally Road Atlas street names. Every GPS I have ever seen show the street names.

I must admit that this unit works well as yellow pages if you’re sitting in a strange place and need to find a service station or restaurant. It lists every place imaginable, you may want to go along with address, phone number and directions.

But if they are just parked in a strange part of town and want to know what side you are, and forget. It shows the track layout, but you have no way of knowing the names of streets. What if I only use it as a normal card? If I’m driving just down the road and want to know what I’m on the road, I must find a road sign or remove the old key card help, I thought I would never use again. If you need directions to get somewhere specific and know the address, this unit is great. But what if you’re lost and need a map? Forget it. Is there really no way to use this card “as a map. You can enlarge an area and see the road through the streets of execution, but not street names.

I contacted Garmin twice… surely there must be a way to see the names of streets… To enable this feature? was told that the system was not designed to show street names, there is nothing I can do to show street names, and the reason is that it would be too messy, and could distract me while driving.

may be true, but I think we should be able to see the names of streets as a regular plan, and be able to make my own decision whether to disable it if I’m distracted instead of Garmin make this decision for me. The reason I bought the big screen, was so that I can see the names of better roads. Every other unit I’ve seen, even Other Garmin to show street names, and most have screens smaller than 7200.

A friend just bought a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 with a factory installed in-dash Kenwood GPS, Swing Out with a screen the same size as the 7200. When I saw you, I was surprised to see the same basic layout and graphics as my Garmin, and that Indeed, use the Garmin software. I was helping to set up, and I must admit that the type of skiing I was glad he would not have the names of streets on his GPS, like his old man did. Perhaps the old adage “Misery Loves Company” has some truth. Just as I was having to bite his tongue to keep out the joy of my voice, as I complained to him that now he would have had to do without street names. . . Being “I could not believe my eyes. On this screen that looked just like mine, using the Garmin software I bought so familiar with and with Garmin actually written on the screen, just like it was mine. . . All street names within a radius of two miles blown! I’m really happy for him. It’s just that he never sought anything. If they will just buy the more expensive it is, and everything always seems to work great. And I research and compare models for months and buying a GPS top of the line. . . OK. . . I am not very happy about it. I like to have his unit and he was mine.

And before you ask, no, this software does not work on my 7200. I tried to buy the Garmin website the same day I saw her Kenwood acted like I was crazy to even think it might work.

Well, I had my 7200 for almost a year now, and remain stored in my center console, most of the time if I go to a specific address or need to know where the closest What – A-Burger is (as if you already know the exact position of each What-A-Burger in the Greater Houston area!)
< br /> I’m very jealous when I drive my friends, and even if I can put the glasses because their screen is third the size of mine I see every street name. I thought I had done the research, but I was wrong and would have tried more if I had known that unit did not have the basic ability to see the names of streets on the map. I only wish that I had to start over. Even if I had to spend more to get what I want, it would be worthwhile. And needless to say, I would not buy a Garmin. . . also one that shows the streets.

My Holy loooooooooooove-7200 drivers I’m 74 and my wife and I love our vacation trip in 38 ‘Rambler Navigator and before I bought the pilot st 7200, I was always nervous about directions and finding specific locations . If you miss the turn into trouble. This navigation system is worrying. I just program the address and takes us there without fault. I do not even look at the cards again. Some people have opted for the nit on it, the editing system, but I put a piece of 1 / 4 “thick plastic and Velcro to the dashboard. I hot glued a rope around 5/8s plastic Himpe and sounds fantastic. Bata Bing Bata Boom. Thanks Garmin. I’m not afraid to go anywhere further. We live in Missouri and our next trip to Niagara Falls.

I used the 7200 on two trips now, it is a journey of some 1,300 miles from California to Oregon. My impressions are very positive. Previously, I owned a Street Pilot III and used the model 2730. The 7200 is essentially the same as in 2730, but with a larger screen of 7 inches. I found the user interface and voice instructions to be very useful when you try to find a particular waypoint. I will not go into all options, others have done. use in my 7200 GMC truck (Diesel 2500), and rose again from the window, below the mirror. This gives me the best view of the road. leaning slightly forward, I can easily use the touch screen. I also use the remote control feature to change views.

I also regret that the CD (), the cards are not supplied with the unit. I called Garmin support and asked for software for my PC. They sent me for free.

Two questions I think should be addressed.
    1) mounting brackets: using the support provided with the device caused too much vibration from the dashboard when on rough roads. I wish there were other assembly systems to give more options when you insert the drive (or the front panel, perhaps a floor support pedestal). Perhaps an alternative would be something like the sand bag assembly used with the 2730 (a little bigger to give stable units).
    2) Software – Back Button: There are times when we must return to a screen or move to another area on your GPS. You must press the back button sometimes 4 to 6 times to return to the main screen. Unlike 2730, which has an external switch, this unit will need to make a software change to include this option.

In addition to these personal problems I have with the 7200, is everything I expected to be and more. With all the options available for 7200, will give each user a highly effective and enjoyable workout.
