Pioneer AVIC-U310BT 4.3-Inch In-Dash Navigation Receiver with CD Player and Bluetooth

Excuse me write a long winded, but I want as many details as possible for people to understand the unit better.
I bought this device after some of the so-called professional reviews online. I do not see their grades is off to a very limited or no POI, no video, etc. But I was not looking for a video or even a lot of POI.
I liked this unit, in fact, it is always in standby mode and turns on the state immediately. Pioneer F-Series, which is a big attraction for time. I installed the unit a week ago and have a lot of experimentation so far and here are my thoughts.
Looks and Installation:
I liked the looks department in its simplicity, not too many buttons and, large audio functions without having to manage the touch screen, etc . The installation went very well excellent documentation (thanks to Crutchfield).
phone, Bluetooth module
If everything is installed, the iPhone syncs Bluetooth module, and tried a few phone calls. I hear the other side of the verywell, no problems here. But the other party barely hear my voice. When I use a microphone in a few inches from my mouth was acceptable, but if so I would always my phone instead of a mic. Have a lot of positions, and nothing helped. So I looked around avic411 forums, and so have quite a lot of people who have problems with the microphone and either Garmin or Parrot Mic Mic. So I went from a Garmin Mic freezer local electronics buy and install it (Garmin Mic cable length is shorter, only 10 meters). Now the quality has to be significantly improved and maintained. But it still had problems with the booming echo (echo cancellation as well), but it was partly because the place. Moving mic near the head liner (top mirror), a little less, and now I thought that this is useful. I had the phone pretty easy iPhone 2G (second transfer car, the Toyota Prius built-in system problems with the 2G iPhone for contacts has).
I drove the car free a total of four days and four days, the Bluetooth system posted 3 times. The symptoms are not related to Bluetooth. But if the phone button, click on the menu, it’s about a cell phone screen and show the Bluetooth connections and use the key. When I click the Bluetooth to make it, she keeps circling and nothing happens.
F. The attempt does not help. The only way to get it this hard reset by pressing the reset button on the small LCD monitor. This does not fix the problem, but also to restore anything. The phone is completely gone, which lacks all the color of light, radio presets, song settings, EQ settings, and your navigation system (ATT, mute, etc.). We need to do to set up everything again from scratch.
Note RESET observation: We can reset the device after the start of the docking station. This device does not return AUDIO / NAV settings. (Contact / Contacts Nav, and some settings seem to be lost).
The volume is independent of the main audio system, so if you increase the number to hear over road noise when driving on the highway, it does not meet the number of Bluetooth.
Another bummer is, you can not be connected via the numeric keypad after the call (it) is used. This means you can not select IVR systems, not voice-menu option, which usually means if the customer service, and even more annoying, call is muted. But atleast you can make it a real phone.
Navigation:
screen size is small, but I think it is a good size, as long as it is not too far from the driver. The menu structure, select Options, settings, etc are in order.
Just to clarify, detachable screen portable navigation does not work. It is not an integrated GPS antenna / GPS processor. You can in the cards, such as paper or card stock to create a route, etc.
The system is Tele Atlas database (instead of NAVTEQ), navigation, usage, not good reviews. Despite the latest database, it is not the main road (bus route) that are 4-5 years old. Even the old neighborhood as a 30-year-old is not the right way information.
Routing Now, I can tell you this must be the worst I have ever used for navigation (Garmin, TomTom, Omnitech, Toyota has to be built in). It has far behind the current vehicle position (like a signal problem), sometimes on the street or more behind the actual location. I think the equipment is too much time for reading the data to calculate the location and representative of the actual route. It can be a problem for most of the road or part of the area outside the center, but it’s pretty close to useless.
. It is a 3D map view is not good, 2D ok. He does not know the difference between trail running routes vs you stay!
text to speech is also pretty bad, says a slight turn to take when infact it is very sharp curve. Sometimes it falls, and sometimes it is forgotten all together, to tell you that you have to turn around. Sometimes it is not showing on the screen to translate it or not (T-junction you come to, but tell it not to take any direction.
I have tried to the same distance Omnitech Portable Navigator (compare Destinator software). It is 100 times greater alignment shows that there is better information on the screen and guidelines for properly.
And now the POI It is not a problem because only 500k POI. It is intentionally removed from classes. The most commonly used class restaurants and gas stations are missing, and you think they are in a cemetery there? There is the possibility of feeding sites, with The AVIC-feeds, but it should not be points of interest, or class or even the place, unfortunately.
BTW is the navigation opportunity to set the tone, either the music mute , ATT music or simply to say, the direction, when the music plays at full (the default setting that makes no sense).
Audio:
voting shareholders to learn. It is in a position to music from the last thumb drive (4 years, a small thumb drive does not play), and it works beautifully with the iPhone. The sound quality is very good, radio reception is OK. Joystick Navigation is fine, the menus are easy to understand when you read the instructions.
It seems that many say the dealers listed in the device that music from the SD card but it is not true. You can not call it music SD card. It can be used only to AVIC Feeds (color can be downloaded, locations, directions, etc.). Pioneer also a See comments to a journalist Crutchfield ratings.
bright color can be chosen or you can void your own colors with the AVIC Feeds Software. LCD never exist, even if you switch off the device. It just turns off when the car keys away (taken from the ACC position). It the key is off the screen, but this is disabled if the system is turned on. Good thing is, remove the screen to complete while driving long distances at night. again is a question as soon as you touch the screen.
Note: This does not apply firmware updates to customers who have over issues that I described, and very few people have problems with freezing to correct navigation. I think overall the machine is good, but it is a software / firmware is the problem.
12/04/2009: Another update. I can confirm that if the firmware update I have not got to any Bluetooth more (4 + weeks). It also affects the routing is slightly better (hang TTS voice is still bad). But I have problems now and then the USB drive. During the play, it suddenly has problems reading the USB and I have also seen the same problem with the iPhone playback. Remove and turned to fix again temporarily. I checked my cable channels and console looks good, too when I check behind the radio to see if it is transferred, the (very unlikely because I have to pull all the cable ties). I will update as soon as I check it out.
03/11/2009: I’m a partial upgrade the firmware through Europe as a pioneer of no updates for this device in the United States. This seems to only increase the Bluetooth module. But this change / improvement appears to be large enough to report . First, I do not see the “Phone not connected” message after I know not to launch the car Bluetooth module that before I shutdown the car and only once (only embarrassing if someone starts the car). Now, this change is that, if the automatic switch-off (off-position of the ACC off / locks), screen does not prevent the immediate, but wait about 5 seconds, and detects that the Bluetooth module has been cut off and locks (it might look funny , took the keys to the car, behind the door, but this case, the screen for us). Good thing is, because of this change Bluetooth connection quickly the next time you start (about 18 seconds to 34 seconds, with no other app running / audio / NAV, etc.). This includes the Bluetooth freezing episodes (missing not quite reduced, but ran more than one or two weeks away from freezing). Bluetooth freezing occurs more frequently when the contacts are synchronized. < br />
Nav But questions are still there, she thinks I’m driving somewhere without you, with the fulll the GPS signal (not just my unit, the other is on), the only way to fix is to disconnect it and cut it again (a restart does not work).
and AVIC feeds that I got excited because I can create your own POI, should be restricted to really to the point that it was not appropriate. As an example, if To add all Shell gas stations (5000 +), it takes only the first 100th course, you can add 100 to any gas station or restaurant. And you can not find these points of interest such as the built-in POI.
and AVIC Feeds iPhone, it is a joke, this device (again, high-quality devices are ok). If you have a Add POI, it is more than connection to your phone (like McDonald have as a partner) and you have the complete phone book synchronization again from scratch iPhone to a POI and AVIC-U310BT get. but more expensive unit, you can move that to connect.
16/09/2009: Now navigator is suspended. I tried to return to normal, but that does not resolve the problem. I had a hard time, the unit commander back. All the settings are lost, as expected, but atleast the navigation and Bluetooth working again.
Boss (wife) was a stock 6-disc CD changer in his 2006 Explorer XLT. He wanted a new radio that he could listen to his iPod and Bluetooth his phone. I would also add GPS, because when I was about to replace the darn thing, I can give him all the functions which he can do in the future.
I’m looking online for a new head unit, but it seemed that all units of more than $ 500 range. I noticed that Amazon had the Pioneer AVIC-U310BT sales of $ 259th 00th I did some research and found mixed reviews on, not every good review was so good. If you think a little about, I decided to bite me. I’m glad I did.
I bought a head unit with CAN-Bus module05 PAC-08 FORD CAN BUS RADIO INTERFACEand Scosche Scosche ISO Double DIN Kit 2004-Up FD1426B Fordmounting Kit. Harnisch was about $ 80 and installation of equipment of the other $ 15. If you look at a lot of head units out there, they offer a Bluetooth option is not included because this radio. It has a $ 100 are too many competitors.
Open all the parts I bought and read all the documents of all products before I left. I am Prewired Pac module, which connects all the wires from the radio harness. This is easy when I walked out of the car. Plug and Play, only the wiring I need to do, was the routing of all wiring a microphone, a GPS antenna and cable AUX output on his Sirius radio.
About Sirius offers a built-in module Pioneer, Sirius or XM. Both cost $ 100 and you need to be found a place of great Sirius modules underlined. They do not offer some features easy Plug and Play devices offer Sirius, Pause, FF, and a favorite song or artist alerts. We decided to hold its current Sportster 5 and paste it into the aux port.
I have everything installed in about 90 minutes. I have the GPS antenna under the top tray on the dashboard. The antenna can be seen through the plastic shell, and will be hidden. IPod cable is a USB cable with your iPod. You can buy a cable to the Pioneer about 40 dollars. I do not see the need, because it is well with the Apple cable. I have the iPod glove compartment because you do not need to use it, all controls can head of unit.
voice is great. GPS seems to be good, but I can tell you more, because we use the actual conditions of use. Some have said that they had no problems with Bluetooth connections consistently. I started the car and turned around 20 times as much, and every time to find it and can connect to my iPhone. . . . No problems at all. Sound quality with the microphone, it looks good so far. Here again, we’ll see how it goes actually driving conditions. />
wanted a few more points to add to this system. First, a few people about the quality of the microphone that comes with the unit complained. For us, it works well. I have been involved at both ends of the calls, since both the sender and not the truck or the recipient’s phone call volume. Both are obvious. Perhaps other people had the question of the location of the microphone? We cut right on the driver’s side visor.
The sound quality is fantastic. The main unit really use the factory subwoofer Explorer. We have never heard a powerful bass from the stock unit.
iPod control takes a little getting used to, but if it is broken, it works well. My wife just happened to control the iPod upside down. It’s like a Juke Box thousands of songs. . . . . it plays songs that we forgot long ago who had an iPod.
GPS is in order. Sure, not a set of points of interest, but we give the addresses. My wife, it’s no big deal.
With PAC system bus module inputs can easily make cables. The system detects when driving the car, it dims the screen to know if the lights, etc. It is like a factory installation.
In total, we are still pleased with this acquisition.
Advantages:
Instant On!
AM / FM / CD Player Single-disc with 18 FM presets, presets 6:00
total iPod control
Basic Text to Speech GPS Bluetooth
Hands Free (when it works)
faceplate Cons:
’s Bluetooth software software error the re-pairing the phone on a regular basic needs. The menus may seem confusing at first.
Summary:
U310BTs AVIC I installed my 2009 Smart car after reading that this device would be the “official” update GPS 2010 model year, wit are offered. I took a $ 370 unit from eBay. Additional $ 30 iPod cable plus $ 50 for a double-DIN face plate and wiring harness, and another 50 dollars for new speakers and have a $ 500 I fix that the dealer $ 1,300 bid.
GPS is simple, but sufficient. Lady-Box, issuing instructions is very small flutter in his voice, but it suits me quite well.
radio / CD player works well and departments to offset a lot of votes. A couple of decent speakers, you will not be disappointed.
If the 120 gig iPod, my holy grail browse your way through the hundreds of artists and thousands of CD I wanted the melody, without killing myself to play while driving. I have noticed that the AVIC U310BT succeed, that I at least clicks and turns of the exact song I wanted – to be found during the trip! However, if this may be confusing menus make you want to read the manual. If you “get to flow” menu, it all makes sense strange way.
biggest disappointment for the software failure Bluetooth. About one quarter of all cars start and Bluetooth is not working on the phone. It requires a front panel reset, which takes about 30 seconds, you have to re-pair the phone, which will take a few minutes. This is really the only thing I do not like the fact that unit. I take the stars from the Bluetooth problems. been
Pioneer AVIC-units in the past for a slow boot times criticized. 310BT is, however, the unit comes on when does the battery removable faceplate is in the standby when the car is turned off. Instant-function appears to be guilty, that somehow lead to hanging a Bluetooth connection.
U310BT is only for sale in June so I expect that as more owners to report this problem in the Bluetooth firmware update to correct results, but until then I’m not so happy as I could.
Update: I’ve found a workaround to a problem and my Bluetooth cell phone – when I paired my wife’s phone started fine! Dropping and re-connect the device to my phone now seems to confirm Jail. It is again, I give this 4 stars!
I was shocked to find on this device is no intention to speak on points of interest. Pioneer is a one hundred U.S. dollars a solution, purchase an SD card updated. I would not buy, that was before I found it was installed on my dashboard. The sound is fine and the Bluetooth is OK if a little confusing. Had to remove the SD card back for some reason. Who wants to GPS, which can not find a gas station?
After many posts with mixed results, I moved to read the trigger and bought the unit about the price. I installed the unit from Pioneer with OnStar. First, make sure you can get a GM-01 kit and kit, as makes installation simple and keeps the chimes and OnStar functionality. After the installation has confirmed the device is a lot of freeze ups, etc. So the first thing, make sure to go online and install a Pioneer 0003 and a software which have been the, all that matters. The sound quality if very good. The Bluetooth feature works very well without problems. IPod works very well and you need to buy any extra cable, you can use a cable with the iPod. Navigation is probably what remains. KP is practically useless and end up buying a $ 100 Pioneer offers POI card with 12 million POI. You can create and upload their own POI allows the AVIC-feed software will also download. This does not replace the POI that Pioneer offers. Nice feature is that you create a Google Maps Directions to the POI and import unit. Navigator jury is still out how users the streets and the city is ok, but not nearly enough use. Garmin and TomTom navigation devices is preferable. Another Note: This device requires a unity of the country in its parking brake and functional significance nav you have to stop and lift the brake (in many joint services). You can skip this step and connect the green wire is a ground wire and ground the body and it works well in circulation (this may be illegal in some countries). Other sections provide front panel comes from I do for theft. This is not video capabilities, so things like the backup camera is optional. So all in all, $ 250 plus the wiring harness, SD Card $ 100 HP is probably priced correctly. If you you have up to $ 500 plus range. Also, [.. .] It is a great site that provides information.
